Inspiration for Tea at Hattie’s Collection
Great Britain is arguably one of the most beautiful places on earth in the summer. Soft white clouds and piercing blue skies provide a beautiful backdrop to the rolling fields of green and yellow. Country cottage gardens are filled with gorgeous summer flowers, butterflies and vibrant bursts of colour.
Summer always reminds me of the times growing up when I used to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Devon. They would often take me to visit my Aunt’s mother, Betty. Betty always baked for us using a huge AGA and, being a ‘city girl’, I always wondered how it worked! She served us cream tea with lashings of clotted cream and strawberry jam, upside down apple cake and tea from her array of vintage teapots. I can still remember the sounds and scents of her beautiful garden and the feeling of the cool bubbling water as we paddled in the garden stream.
The memories of these special times and the Great British summertime have inspired the Tea at Hattie’s Collection.
